As a proud US citizen, it felt good to go to my local voting location and cast my vote in the 2016 Florida states presidential primary. As this blog is not a political blog I’ll keep my commentary on the candidates to myself.
What I do want to talk about is the responsibility every US citizen has to cast their vote. In the last presidential election we had less than 55% of eligible voters cast their vote, and this is if you believe every vote that was cast was a legitimate vote (but that’s a different topic for another day). In a recent Pew research, they found that “U.S. voter turnout trails most developed countries“. Not that the US needs to first in everything, but we should not be that close to the bottom.
I would add one thing. Be informed. If you don’t know who the speaker of the house is, please stay home. So, go get informed, and cast a vote.
Ok, enough of that, for now. Time to go write.
Until next time…
